Progressive Solutions Inc. has been selected by LR McCoy, of Worcester, Massachusetts, to provide bisTrack business software to automate and integrate LR McCoy’s purchasing, sales, inventory control and reporting functions.

The LR McCoy order is Progressive Solutions 50th order for bisTrack since its introduction. Progressive Solutions will also implement Great Plains® accounting software and Crystal Reports® to operate in conjunction with bisTrack.

LR McCoy is a wholesale distributor of fence, flooring, landscape products, specialty building materials, and industrial wood components serving professional dealers, retail outlets, home centers, and industrial accounts throughout North America and Canada.

Chuck MacFarland, LR McCoy’s IT Director, led a multi-disciplinary team that investigated the software purchase. He comments, “What differentiated bisTrack was the combination of the Microsoft® tool set that it’s built with, and it being a better fit for the way we operate our business.”

Chuck says of his reaction to the bisTrack demonstrations: “Right away, bisTrack’s Windows® look-and-feel appealed to those of us who recognized it for what it was, and what it would mean to us.” He explains, “Since bisTrack’s user interface is consistent with our other applications, training our users will be easier. They’re already familiar with the environment, and bisTrack training will cross over into their other work since they’ll also learn how to manipulate files in applications such as MS Word®, Excel® and Outlook®.”

“bisTrack being on SQL Server® appealed to us too,” Chuck continues. “We currently transfer business data to SQL Server from another database and write reports using Crystal Reports against SQL, which is incredibly more efficient. bisTrack will eliminate this necessity.”

Lastly, Chuck explains some of the reasons why bisTrack fit their business better than other systems they looked at: “As with any wholesale company, commissions is a complicated process for us. bisTrack provides the capabilities we’re looking for to manage our systems effectively.”

“Further, since our business involves direct ship transactions, we needed a very comfortable method of flipping back and forth from the purchase side to the sales sale. bisTrack made this easy.”

“We’re very comfortable with the tools on which bisTrack is built,” Chuck summarizes. “We’re excited about the prospect of using Crystal Reports against the live database in realtime. And we like some of the concepts that the tools enable you to build in, such as the desktop concept where each person’s desktop will be customized to show them what tasks they have waiting for them. That’s a very nice feature.”
