Lavalley Lumber orders bisTrack for better reporting

Maine dealer will use bisTrack’s reporting and analytic tools to give managers real-time information needed to improve profits, offer better service and gain market share.

Progressive Solutions Inc., of Richmond, BC, Canada is pleased to announce that Lavalley Lumber Company of Sanford, Maine has purchased bisTrack to replace its outdated system.

“We selected bisTrack mainly for the management tools,” says Frank Kelley, Lavalley Lumber’s VP of Finance. “Of course, we like bisTrack’s ease of use, its Windows platform, and its complete package with everything linked together. But bisTrack’s reporting capabilities are fantastic!”

“With bisTrack, we’ll be able to give our managers tools to set baselines and measure critical profit variables. We’ll be able to figure out which segments of our business we’re missing, for example, by identifying those customers that aren’t buying everything from us and gain market share by selling more to them. Right now, extracting that information is difficult,” Mr. Kelley explains. He continues: “But if you can measure it, you can manage it.

“We want to get more real-time information at the disposal of managers, so they can react and make real-time decisions. When you give managers monthly, or even weekly, reports, it’s often already too late to make corrections. bisTrack gives you that day-to-day, instantaneous feedback. I can definitely see that helping us,” says Mr. Kelley.

“What also really impressed me was bisTrack’s ‘push’ mentality – the way that information is automatically sent out to the people that need to know,” Mr. Kelley comments. “For example, when an item is received, bisTrack can be set up to automatically send an email to the salesman and the customer. That’s a great service to offer to our customers.”
