Progressive Solutions Inc. is pleased to announce that Alexander Lumber, headquartered in Aurora, Illinois, has selected Progressive Solutions to host its bisTrack™ system supporting 250 users at 27 locations across Illinois and Wisconsin through its secureHosting™ program.

“While they didn’t disclose anticipated savings, Progressive Solutions’ secureHosting is undoubtedly cost justified compared to their alternatives,” says Dave Woodhouse, VP Managed Services at Progressive Solutions explaining that Alexander Lumber is replacing two outdated data centers in operation due to recent acquisitions. “They would have had to upgrade their servers and networking infrastructure into one of the data centers at considerable cost. Let alone face a steep learning curve to operate and maintain the new IT infrastructure.”

Progressive Solutions’ secureHosting program provides application hosting for bisTrack, MS Office® and selected other business applications. Alexander Lumber will operate terminals at each of its 27 locations connected through the Internet to servers operated at Progressive Solutions’ secure data center. Progressive Solutions will also provide other IT management services including virus management, disaster recovery planning and regular secure backups.

The hosting program is part of Alexander Lumber’s implementation of bisTrack software, which replaces the 21 CSD and 2 ECS Pro systems that operate on disparate data bases with resultant lack of standardization. bisTrack will consolidate all locations onto a single system and will help Alexander Lumber optimize company-wide inventory, offer better customer service, and give them accurate real-time data to support decision-making and competitive strategies.

bisTrack and secureHosting will roll out throughout 2011 at all Alexander Lumber locations in Illinois and Brittingham & Hixon Lumber and Stan’s Lumber locations in Wisconsin.
