Report Writer

Description

The position of report writer will communicate, understand, translate and deliver report requests for our bisTrack customer base. You will create and maintain reports using Crystal Reports and/or SQL, as well as work with the database to create stored procedures, functions and views. The job requires interfacing with customers, internal and external groups to understand requirements’ and suggest solutions, troubleshoot problems and support business reporting needs.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education - Technology degree preferred
  • Advanced Crystal Report development experience
  • Advanced Microsoft SQL Server and Transact-SQL experience
  • Broad-base understanding of Retail/POS business applications an asset
  • The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processing

  • Expert analytical and troubleshooting skills and ability to trace report performance issues to root cause
  • Advanced SQL queries, including stored procedures development & maintenance
  • Must be an excellent communicator who is detail oriented
  • Ability to communicate technical and business information to widely varied audiences
  • High level of initiative to contribute ideas while working in a team environment
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the company’s products through continuous study and experience
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment

Tasks/Duties

  • Duties include optimizing or fine tuning slow running reports
  • Reconciling discrepancies between the expectations of data managers and information presented in their reports
  • Work with customers, implementers & developers to gather specifications for data and report requirements
  • Develop SQL queries to extract, manipulate and/or calculate information to fulfill data and reporting requirements
